Our Special Dogs
Occasionally we have some special seniors that need extra
attention due to health or emotional issues.
Thanks to our caring foster
families these dogs get place for rehabilitation and the love they deserve.
If you can't adopt a greyhound, please help
sponsor one of our special needs dogs to off-set the extra medical
expenses.
Thank you.
We can use
your donation to help offset
our costs of taking care of the dogs.

Lady & Tunes will each need to stay locally. We would appreciate any donations toward their on
going health care and well being. They have loving fosters and
excellent health care and Senior Sanctuary is dedicated to making sure
they have love and wellness as long as they live.

Angel was rescued from a killshelter after she
was placed there by the children of her owner who passed away.
She is 12 years old and has a chronic bladder infection, we have
tested and treated her several times to determine the cause but
it seems to be an "old age "problem. she is being cared for by
her foster and she is a wonderful girl who deserves to be loved
and cared for and has a lot of love to give. She will be taken
off the special needs list if a permanent cure is available. |

Bebe
is
a beautiful 12 yo and was returned due to owner's health. She
had some digestive issues and needs to adhere to a special diet

The Senior
The thought of our beloved Greyhounds aging is something most of us would rather not contemplate. It is a reality, however, and knowing what to expect can help us better deal with the problems and issues that might occur. These dogs have become an integral part of our families. They deserve to live out their lives in a dignified and well cared for manner, surrounded by those that they love and who love them in return.

Dental Care
Tooth and gum disease are fairly common in the
older dog, and Greyhounds are no exception. Most dental procedures
require a dog be anesthetized for a short period of time. Be VERY
certain that your veterinarian is using a Greyhound-safe anesthetic,
such as Isoflurane. Geriatric pre-surgical panels are required by most
veterinarians after a dog reaches eight years of age. A standard panel
will include a CBC and Urinalysis.
